Germany’s customer experience landscape rewards more than efficiency. Reliability remains vital, but current research also points to empathy, personalisation, integrity and a clear sense of value. The strongest experience is not necessarily the most elaborate. It is the one that gives customers confidence, reduces uncertainty and responds appropriately when the situation becomes complicated.

The ten brands below are selected examples from different sectors serving customers in Germany. Several are 2026 sector winners in Deutschlands Kundenchampions, while the wider themes are informed by KPMG’s latest German Customer Experience Excellence research. They are not presented as a single cross-sector top ten.

Research note. KPMG’s latest German study is based on more than 75,000 customer opinions covering over 200 brands. Deutschlands Kundenchampions evaluates customer relationships and publishes sector-specific winners. Explore the KPMG study

Dacia

Dacia was the 2026 automotive sector winner in Deutschlands Kundenchampions. Its CX relevance begins with a clear value proposition: customers understand what the brand offers and what they are paying for. In a high-consideration category, straightforward communication and dependable support can be more reassuring than unnecessary complexity. The lesson is to make value visible at every stage, from research and purchase to ownership and service.

ING

ING led the banking category in Deutschlands Kundenchampions for 2026. Its direct banking model depends on journeys that customers can complete with clarity and confidence, supported by help when a financial decision or problem requires it. For CX leaders, ING illustrates an important balance: self-service should make routine activity simpler, while escalation routes must remain understandable and dependable when the stakes are higher.

Globus Baumarkt

Globus Baumarkt won the 2026 DIY retail category. Home-improvement customers rarely need products alone; they need to know whether an item is suitable, available and compatible with their project. Strong CX therefore combines inventory information, navigation and knowledgeable advice. The lesson is to organise the experience around the customer’s task rather than around internal product categories.

Expert

Expert was the 2026 sector winner among electronics retailers. Consumer electronics journeys can become confusing quickly because products, specifications, installation needs and warranties interact. A good experience translates those choices into understandable guidance. Expert’s inclusion highlights the continuing role of trusted advice, particularly when a customer wants a solution rather than a list of features.

AOK Plus

AOK Plus led the statutory health insurer category in the 2026 study. Health-related journeys are often emotional, time-sensitive and difficult to navigate. Customers need clear information, accessible contact and confidence that their case will not disappear between channels. The wider CX lesson is that empathy is operational: it must be reflected in language, handovers, response times and the way an organisation explains the next step.

Aldi Süd

Aldi Süd won the grocery retail category in 2026. Its experience is built on a proposition customers can understand quickly: a focused assortment, accessible value and an efficient store journey. The brand demonstrates that simplicity can itself be a form of customer centricity. Removing unnecessary choice and friction can help customers complete an everyday task faster, provided quality and availability remain dependable.

IKEA

IKEA led the furniture category in Deutschlands Kundenchampions 2026. It connects inspiration, planning, product discovery, fulfilment and assembly support across stores and digital channels. The journey is not always short, but its stages are recognisable. IKEA shows why experience design should help customers imagine an outcome and then provide practical tools that move them towards it.

Netflix

Netflix was the 2026 streaming sector winner. Its interface reduces the effort of finding something to watch through personalisation, continuity across devices and familiar interaction patterns. Yet the broader lesson is not simply to recommend more content. Effective personalisation helps customers decide, respects the context of use and makes it easy to resume a journey without starting again.

O2

O2 led the telecommunications category in the 2026 study. Telecom CX is shaped not only by network performance, but also by contracts, billing, activation, account management and problem resolution. The brand’s recognition points to the importance of making invisible services understandable. Proactive information and clear ownership are particularly valuable when customers cannot diagnose the technical issue themselves.

Miele

Miele was the 2026 winner in the white-goods category. Appliances create a long relationship that can extend from research and delivery to maintenance, troubleshooting and repair. Miele’s CX lesson is to treat the post-purchase experience as part of the product promise. Premium positioning becomes credible when customers can access useful support throughout the life of the product.

What these brands teach us about CX

Trust is created through clarity: Dacia, ING and Aldi Süd show the value of a proposition and journey that customers can understand without unnecessary effort

Expertise needs to be accessible: Globus Baumarkt, Expert, AOK Plus and Miele demonstrate why advice and support matter when the customer’s task is complex or consequential

Personalisation should improve decisions: Netflix, IKEA and O2 illustrate how relevant information and continuity can guide customers without overwhelming them

The brands are presented as editorial examples, not as a new cross-market ranking. Selection reflects recent independent research and the practical CX lesson each brand illustrates. Rankings use their publishers’ own methodologies and should not be treated as directly comparable.
