10 Brands Delivering Standout Customer Experiences in Austria

Which organisations are creating customer experiences worth learning from in Austria? There is no single answer. A specialist optician, a motorway restaurant and a digital pharmacy serve very different needs, and each succeeds through a different combination of human attention, operational reliability and digital convenience.

The ten brands below are therefore not presented as our definitive list of Austria's 'best' companies. They are selected examples with strong recent evidence behind them and a practical lesson for CX leaders. The mix includes Austrian businesses and international brands serving customers in the Austrian market.

The evidence base is unusually broad. Service-Champions Austria 2026 evaluated 869 companies across 62 sectors using customer judgements, while the ÖGVS Branchenmonitor 2026 analysed around 380,000 assessments covering 1,958 companies in 184 sectors. The studies use different methodologies, so their positions are not directly comparable. Together, however, they show that customers continue to reward helpful people, a clear proposition and journeys that work without unnecessary effort.

Editorial approach. Rankings are used as evidence, not as a substitute for judgement. Each example is included for the transferable CX discipline it illustrates.

1. sehen!wutscher

Austria's 2026 Service-Champions study placed sehen!wutscher first overall. That result is especially instructive because optical retail combines a technical need with a highly personal decision. Customers require expertise, reassurance and enough time to compare options with confidence. The CX lesson is to make professional knowledge feel accessible. When employees can explain choices clearly and respond to the individual rather than a script, trust becomes part of the product.

2. Landzeit

Landzeit ranked third overall in Service-Champions Austria 2026. Its motorway locations serve customers who often arrive with limited time, changing expectations and a need for predictability. A strong experience therefore depends on speed, cleanliness, product quality and warm service working together. Landzeit illustrates that hospitality can be distinctive even in a highly functional setting. Convenience should remove pressure, but the human interaction is what can turn a necessary stop into a positive memory.

3. BIPA

BIPA placed fourth overall in the 2026 Service-Champions study. Beauty and personal-care retail involves both routine replenishment and moments when customers want advice or discovery. The brand's example highlights the need to connect range, value, loyalty and store assistance without making the journey feel complicated. For CX teams, the useful question is whether digital tools and promotions make choices easier or merely create more noise. Relevance is strongest when it helps a customer act with less effort.

4. VERBUND

VERBUND ranked fifth in Service-Champions Austria 2026. Energy is largely invisible until a bill, a move or a service issue brings it sharply into view. This makes clarity and proactive communication central to the experience. Customers need to understand usage, costs, contracts and what happens next. VERBUND's inclusion is a reminder that trust is often built through information design: plain language, visible status and an obvious route to human support can reduce uncertainty in a complex category.

5. HOFER

HOFER appeared in the leading group of both major 2026 studies: eighth overall in Service-Champions and fourth for cross-sector customer satisfaction in the ÖGVS monitor. Its experience is based on a focused proposition, clear value and an efficient store journey. The lesson is not that every brand should simplify its range, but that customers should be able to understand the proposition quickly. Operational discipline becomes a CX advantage when it protects availability, price confidence and a dependable routine.

6. Thalia

Thalia placed ninth in the 2026 Service-Champions ranking. Book retail shows how digital convenience and physical discovery can strengthen each other. Search, availability and ordering remove practical barriers; knowledgeable staff, browsing and recommendations add curiosity and emotion. Thalia's transferable lesson is to give each channel a clear role. A store should not imitate a website, and a website should not erase the expertise and serendipity that make the physical experience valuable.

7. Erste Bank Österreich

Erste Bank Österreich was among the leading group in Service-Champions Austria 2026. Banking journeys range from quick everyday tasks to decisions with long-term financial and emotional consequences. The brand's relevance lies in balancing capable self-service with access to advice. Digital channels should give customers control over routine activity, while employees provide context and reassurance when the decision is less familiar. The handover between those modes is often where trust is won or lost.

8. Shop Apotheke

shop-apotheke.at led the ÖGVS 2026 cross-sector customer-satisfaction table. Online pharmacy requires more than a fast checkout: customers need confidence in product information, availability, fulfilment and support. Its example demonstrates that a digital journey feels easy only when the operations behind it are dependable. In sensitive categories, good CX also means recognising the limits of self-service and making expert guidance or escalation clear when a customer needs it.

9. dm

dm and dm.at occupied second and third place respectively in the ÖGVS 2026 satisfaction ranking. That physical-and-digital recognition makes dm a useful omnichannel example. Customers may research, compare, buy and seek advice in different places, but they still experience one brand. Consistent information and a recognisable service culture help the journey feel joined up. The lesson is to measure continuity across the customer's task, not only the performance of each channel in isolation.

10. spusu

Austrian telecom provider spusu has been highlighted for keeping customer service close to the business, with fast access to people rather than relying entirely on outsourced or automated contact. That is a valuable counterpoint in a sector where customers often reach out because something is confusing or not working. The CX lesson is not to reject automation, but to use it selectively. Customers remember whether the organisation made it easy to reach a capable person when the situation genuinely required one.

What these brands teach us about CX

Human expertise creates confidence: sehen!wutscher, Landzeit and spusu show why accessible, capable people still differentiate the experience

Simplicity needs operational support: HOFER, Shop Apotheke and VERBUND demonstrate that clarity works only when information, fulfilment and resolution are dependable

Omnichannel means continuity: BIPA, Thalia, dm and Erste Bank illustrate how channels should support one customer task rather than operate as separate journeys
